Plumbers’ Local 63 apprenticeship program is registered with the Bureau for Apprenticeship Training, U.S. Department of Labor. The length of the apprenticeship is five years, in which each apprentice completes at least 8000 hours of on the job training and 1250 hours of classroom instruction. The goal of the Plumbers Local 63 training program is to have each apprentice receive their journeyman license in the State of Illinois before completion of the five year program.

Apprentices are trained in safety, residential and commercial construction, commercial and residential service, medical gas systems, sanitary waste and vent systems, water piping above and below ground, gas piping and water and waste water treatment.

Local 63 training department also offers many journeymen update classes, along with the annual mandatory four hour update class for renewal of the Illinois State Plumbing License. This allows the journeymen from Plumbers Local 63 to stay on top of any new plumbing fixtures and innovation in the plumbing and piping industry.
